Art I Love, Part V

Welcome to Part V

of my blog posts about the talented
Brooke Murray. If you have not seen parts I-IV, click
the links on your right and have a look, she has some
amazing artwork and is willing to sell it.

Lock Bridge
As Always I will discuss each piece and showcase how very unique each of these look.

Enjoy!

In Paris, across the Seine River the Pont de l'Archevêché bridge is an iconic statement of love. Many young couples in love come to seal their fate with each other together by binding a lock to the bridge. Brooke spent here time taking pictures of this bridge and choose to capture its beauty, mystery, and love in this beautifully colored oil painting on canvas. The colors both hide and illuminate the lock in such a great view. Though the bars hold their frame, you don't feel trapped or enclosed, the world is just coming to view in a new light.

Smell of Music
Smell the Music was done when the artist was in middle school. It represents some of her favorite things and looks amazing for that. Her colors are magnificent and the contrast is pleasing to the eye.

"The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance."
-Aristotle

Moonshine
Moonshine, its obvious where the picture derives its name. Brooke did this for  class assignment in High School and spent more time than she would care to admit working on it.
It shows her signature swirls, the bottle drawn by pencil and her signature. Can you find it?

"For every prohibition you create, you also create an underground."

- Jello Biafra

Old Fashion

Old Fashion is rather a unique piece. This is the silhouette of a young woman but she isn't just on plain canvas, Brooke took an old lace curtain and cut it up to fit the canvas, then she drew/sponged the girl onto the canvas and lace. The lace stands out from the stark white of the canvas, but only barely. The girl is still the focal point and yet, not the focal point.

"Art is the stored honey of the human soul."
- Theodore Dreiser

Have you Noticed?

Every work by Brooke Murray includes 3 things.
  • Her signature, usually in the bottom right corner, but something hidden in other places as well, such as inside the main focal point.
  • A pencil drawing of something.
  • Swirls, her signature style is swirls, some are more obvious than others, How many swirls can you find?

Hairbow
Hairbow is a creative and beautiful showcase of the girl and her importance on vanity, while this showcases the girls real beauty and her importance in her hair. The water streaks are a great touch to represent her vanity fading, yet her beauty will remain, even if not in the way she envisioned. Beautiful and Colorful work that is a real gem.
